Vogue China Goes Scarlett

7 Apr

For the cover of Vogue China, Scarlett Johansson also wore a sheer dress from the Dolce & Gabbana Spring Summer 2011 collection. This one ofcourse is far more extravagant (than Gisele’s simple number) embroidered with Swarovski crystals and silk culottes with lace detailing. I think she looks divine. Fantastic job on her make-up and hair too.

You like?

PS. My only pet peeve with this cover are those bold black letters overshadowing the beauty of the picture itself. It’s too distracting. :–(

Vogue Paris: Gisele

6 Apr

Gisele Bündchen featured in the April 2011 edition of Vogue Paris. For the cover shot, she wore a white Dolce & Gabbana sheer dress from the label’s Spring 2011 collection. I like what I see. Do you?

“Balenciaga and Spain”

25 Mar

Dear Fashionistas,

In case you haven’t already heard, I’d like to inform you of this wonderful event opening at the de Young museum in San Francisco this weekend – “Balenciaga and Spain”. From all I’ve heard and read, you’re not going to want to miss this rare fashion exhibit.

Cristóbal Balenciaga

“Balenciaga and Spain” is a study in the influences that Spain had on three decades of designer Cristóbal Balenciaga’s work.

He was deeply influenced by the culture and folklore from Spain, from the religious to the Gypsies, flamencos and bullfighters. Interested? Read more.

Really interested? ;–)

See the event details here.

I also wanted to share this recent interview of Hamish Bowles, European editor-at-large for Vogue and guest curator for “Balenciaga and Spain” on National Public Radio.

I know I’m really looking forward to the exhibit. =)

The Face of Lancôme

23 Mar

Emma Watson looks adorable at her Lancôme commercial shoot.

Emma Watson

Now, I’m pretty sure if I saw someone wear that lacy pair of shorts on the street, I’d think they’re either wearing their nightwear or lingerie or a cross between the two! Haha. But this is a professional shoot and Emma makes the outfit look both soft and edgy at the same time. Her awesome pixie haircut helps too. (She totally has the face for it.)

And how cute is that pale pink blazer! Looks familiar, doesn’t it? ;–)

The Olsen sisters have always left me bewildered. After a host of God-awful looks that have left me questioning their fashion icon status (please see the collage below to see what I’m talking about)…

Some forgettable moments

…I was thrilled to see their appearance at CFDA’s New Talent awards. For me, it was like a breath of fresh air. Don’t you agree?
